2022 Byron Bay Surf Festival
Heading into it’s 12th year, the Byron Bay Surf Festival is on track for one of the best ever.
With an action-packed lineup in and out of the water, the schedule has never looked quite like this.
For the first time ever, the Vissla Cosmic Creek will be unveiled for all to see in the Bay.
Cosmic Creek, the 24-year-old Californian event that celebrates surfing’s transition years of the 1970s and 80s, is coming to Byron Bay next month as part of the Byron Bay Surf Festival.
Participants in Cosmic Creek ride supplied single and twin fins shaped up to 50 years ago by some of the region’s iconic shapers, including Bill Wallace, Gunther Rohn, Dick Van Straalen, Geoff McCoy, Tony Dempsey, Hayden Kenny, and Chris Brock.
The event, which is open to all comers and includes a range of age divisions and an exhibition pro division, is being brought to Byron Bay by surf brand Vissla. The competition will run on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, and will be immediately followed by an evening of free music at the Rails Hotel.
We are also pleased to announce that we will be witnessing the first showing of a brand new surf film called Natural High by star surf film creator Jack Coleman. Jack will fly all the way from the States to premiere his new film at Palace Cinemas on Thursday 4th September.
This is a nice segway into the full Event Program found below. Event Generals are stoked with the lineup at this years festival and especially vibing on the cool design elements that encapsulate the Byron Bay sentiment. All art is courtesy of festival founder James McMillan and Creative Agency, The Various Artists who Event Generals work extensively with on all of our events.
Sponsorship is a huge part of what we do at Event Generals and a lot of the time, our events wouldn’t exist without the work our sponsorship team put together.
The Vissla Cosmic Creek will be one of the biggest activation’s ever achieved by Event Generals and we can’t wait to see how it pans out.
